Issue Fifteen

June 2022

In the world of cybersecurity, the landscape is evolving more rapidly than we’ve ever seen in history. The complexities of securing an organization require skillsets that didn’t exist five years ago. To be successful, we must evolve and amass the talents required to address this challenge. If sustainability is ever to be a realistic achievement, a cultivation and harvesting of mindsets that welcome perplexities must occur.

At Silent Quadrant, we’ve always maintained the notion that technology alone will not solve the problem. Addressing the human element is the only path to achieving critical velocity against global cyber threats. Our commitment to providing unprecedented levels of protection to our clients remains our focus – creating differentiation through extreme value transference.

As organizations around the globe strive to upskill their workforces, we look to do the same - for Silent Quadrant, for our clients, and for the cybersecurity community. This month’s issue of Target Lock is dedicated to three major announcements of which we are very proud and know will create strategic advantages in ways that reveal themselves for years to come.

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.” — Charles Darwin

Organizational Transformation at Silent Quadrant

For the past 29 years, our firm and our clients have seen Kenneth Holley at the helm, leading us through incredible growth and innovation in the ways in which extreme value and purpose-driven digital protection strategies have been delivered across our entire client-base.

For the past seven years those efforts have been in lockstep with his protégé and Chief Operating Officer, Adam Brewer. We have seen tremendous growth and transformation in not only our business, but in our clients’ businesses as well – a truly collaborative type of value exchange that is only possible through the deepest levels of trust.

As the world and landscape continue to evolve around us, so must Silent Quadrant. Effective today - June 3rd, 2022 - Adam Brewer has been named Chief Executive Officer of the firm, while Kenneth continues his incredible legacy of influence and leadership from the position of Chairman.

The two will continue to work side by side to elevate Silent Quadrant’s ability to serve clients in new and profound ways. It’s a natural progression that positions everyone to leverage their talents to their maximum potential and to open the firm up to breathe new life into everything we do.

“I’ve been extremely fortunate to have Ken as my mentor and role model. There aren’t many people on this Earth that are afforded the opportunity to study his level of attention to detail and commitment to excellence, and I wake up every single day grateful for that. We’ve always had the type of relationship that pushes us to exceed our own expectations and be better every day – to make each other proud. Between Ken, Marc Packler, and Tony Ogden - I’m surrounded by the most talented people in the industry, and there’s no doubt in my mind we’re on the path to truly redefine what cybersecurity looks and feels like on every level.” – Adam Brewer, Chief Executive Officer

Silent Quadrant Welcomes J. Anthony “Tony” Ogden to The Executive Team

We are pleased to announce the addition of Tony Ogden to the Silent Quadrant executive team as our President - Governance, Risk Management, Compliance. “Tony’s integrity and commitment to excellence perfectly align with the ethos of our firm. His unwavering drive to continue expanding his already impressive level of expertise provides an opportunity for an incredible talent to immediately step in and add tremendous value to the important work we do for our clients,” said Adam Brewer, Silent Quadrant’s Chief Operating Officer. “We remain committed to being the most trusted digital protection agency in the world, and Tony’s character and passion add significant strength to that pursuit.”

Ogden comes to Silent Quadrant from Bates Group LLC, where he served as Chief Legal & Administrative Officer with executive oversight for Bates Group’s legal, governance, compliance, enterprise risk management and cybersecurity initiatives. A high-energy senior executive and strategic thought leader, Ogden has over 25 years of experience as a legal, compliance and risk-management expert.

Additionally, Ogden served as Deputy Inspector General for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System & Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Office of Inspector General (OIG) in Washington, D.C., where he was responsible for overall executive leadership and program responsibility for compliance and cybersecurity audits among others. He also regularly engaged with top agency and Federal Reserve Bank senior leadership and various Administration and Congressional committee members and staff. From 2011-2012, Ogden served as the General Counsel to the Inspector General at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and from 2006-2011, Mr. Ogden served as Inspector General (IG) of the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO), an agency of the legislative branch of the U.S. federal government.

“We’re excited to continue the meaningful and purpose-driven growth of our firm with Tony and the recent hire of Marc Packler, President, Chief Information Security Officer, who both perfectly solidify our executive team,” said Silent Quadrant Chief Executive Officer Kenneth Holley. “We know the cybersecurity space is continuously evolving, particularly in matters related to security regulations and protocols. Tony’s capabilities allow us to proactively meet clients’ needs now and in the future to address those heightened issues.”

Ogden recently received an Advanced Certificate in Cybersecurity and Data Privacy from Albany Law school where he is completing a Masters of Law (LL.M.) in Cybersecurity and Data Privacy. With Ogden’s breadth of expertise, Silent Quadrant will be able to serve its clients – present and future – in a larger and more involved capacity.

“I am privileged to join a world-class team dedicated to trusted, innovative and uncompromising cybersecurity solutions as well as fostering thought leadership in this ever-changing cyber landscape,” said Silent Quadrant President Tony Ogden. “I’m looking forward to helping provide strategic counsel and implement tactical solutions to better secure the most influential and purpose-driven organizations.”

Silent Quadrant Seeks to Address The Cybersecurity Skills Gap In Partnership With Innovative Startup, Masterschool

It has been well documented that our nation – and our world - is falling short on filling the cybersecurity roles needed to continue the fight against the rise in cybercrime. The threats are growing at an exponential pace, and the effort to generate talent is ripe for disruption.

With a recent round of funding totaling $100M, Masterschool is positioned to shake things up and address the talent shortage head on, in new and innovative ways.

“We established Masterschool to drive the transformational power of education forward. We witness this transformation in our students and graduates every day. And we know that it’s possible to succeed when talent and effort are matched with opportunity.”

Our very own, Kenneth Holley, has been selected as the first Cybersecurity Master for the cyber analyst program, with an opportunity to produce up to 200 new cyber analysts over the next six months.

“Masterschool represents a truly unique, disruptive approach to educating brilliant and passionate students - positioning them to achieve their ambitions of career and career transition success. An ethos of social good and corporate responsibility which aligns perfectly with that of Silent Quadrant.” – Kenneth Holley

There is a substantial amount of work ahead of us in addressing this critical need, but the only way forward is to take that necessary first step – one that not only moves the needle but begins to build terminal velocity and momentum. This partnership is set to do just that.
